I hope that you all enjoyed the long weekend! It is hard to believe that this week we start the 4th quarter!! Third quarter report cards will be available to view on Wednesday of this week. Please let me know if you have any issues accessing your child's report card.
Don't forget that the Poetry Contest is going on right now. If your child wants to submit a poem they could win a $10 gift card to the spring book fair! A winner is selected from each class. Please submit all entries must be submitted by March 28th. I will attach the entry form at the end of this post.
In honor of St. Patrick's Day, this Friday (March 16th) will be white and green accessory day. For a donation of at least $1, the kids may wear school appropriate accessories. Please no shirts or shoes, just accessories.
Here is what we will be working on this week in our classroom:
Reading: Our lesson this week is about how things grow. The students will hear the stories Oscar and the Frog and Zinnia's Flower Garden. This week's sound is /e/ and the sight words are she, all, over, when, her, some. Please make sure that you practice our sight words every week! We will have spelling test number three on Friday of this week. Be sure to have your child practice writing the words so they are prepared.
Religion: We will finish up our Stations of the Cross book this week as the students will learn about stations 13-15. We will also begin to learn about the story of Easter with Resurrection Eggs. If you are not familiar with these they are 12 eggs that have a symbol in each one to represent a different part of the story of Easter. These eggs are a great tool to help your child to remember the story. Ask them to tell you about what we found in our egg each day.
Math: This week we will finish the chapter on length and height. The students will be assessed on this on Monday. Then we will begin a quick chapter reviewing classifying and sorting. They will be assessed on this chapter at the end of the week.
