Hello K1 families!
This Friday will be our 20th Harvest Festival! If you have not already we still have a couple of spots to run our K1 booth open. Please see the sign up genius in the Friday newsletter to volunteer. Make sure that you also register your family to attend this fun event! You can preorder food through this Tuesday. Hope to see you all there!
Here is what we will be working on in our classroom this week:
Reading - This week we will be learning about wheels and motion. Our sound is /p/ and our sight word is "to." We will work on number words as adjectives as well. Please make sure that you continue to practice our sight words with your child. Next week is a review week which means I will be checking in to make sure each student has learned the sight words for this unit.
Math - Our next chapter is on numbers 0-20. This week we will focus on numbers 0-12. We will practice rote counting to 20 and writing the numerals and learning the numbers names for 10-12.
Religion - In preparation for our upcoming Litany of the Saints we will learn more about what a saint is this week and why they are important. This will help your child as they prepare the litany and begin to research their own saints.
Science/Social Studies - We will focus on forces of motion this week and learn what a push and a pull are. The students will make their own ramps and explore with different ways that a toy car can change directions as well as go faster and slower. We also will learn about machines and transportation now versus in the past.
Have a great week!
