I hope you all enjoyed the Harvest Festival on Friday! Its always great to see the kids enjoying all the fun booths and games!
This week we will celebrate All Saints Day. Thursday November 1st at 10 am will be our school mass. Friday November 2nd at 8:15 will be our Litany of the Saints. Please make sure your child comes in their saint costume on Friday and please plan on staying to watch the Litany. They have been working so hard and can't wait to present to you all! Saint reports will also be due on Friday November 2nd. Please let me know if you have any questions about this project.
Here is what we will be working on in K2 this week:
Reading - Our theme this week is shapes. The students will hear the stories David's Drawing and Mouse Shapes. We will be reviewing our sight words and sounds in preparation for our unit test next week. The students will be assessed on the sight words this week so make sure to review them at home. We have learned through "to" on the sight word list.
Math - We will continue practicing with numbers 0-20 this week. The students will participate in various activities to help them to learn the tricky teens. We are focusing on the fact that all teen numbers begin with a one and are made up of 1 group of ten and then some more. We are using ten frames as well as base ten cubes to show this. At home you can reinforce this by practicing matching the number names to the numerals for 10-19.
Religion - This week we will wrap up our lesson on Saints and continue to prepare for our Litany on Friday.
Social Studies/Science - This week we will wrap up transportation and inventions. The students will also participate in some Halloween STEM activities.
Have a great week and a fun and safe Halloween!
