We made it through week 1! It was such a pleasure to meet you all this past week and I have so enjoyed getting to know your children. I know this is going to be such a wonderful year. I have posted a link to view pictures from our year in the gallery tab. There are pictures from our first few days uploaded already... please check them out!
Each week you can check back here for updates on what we will be doing in K1. I will give you an overview of the topics we will be covering and the skills we will be learning. We are all ready to jump right into curriculum on Monday!
Reading: This week we begin work in our reading curriculum. We will review letters A-E and practice writing both the upper and lower case letters. Each day we will hear a new nursery rhyme and do some projects to go along with them as well!
Math: Our math lessons this week are all about the numbers 1-3. We will be finding matches and learning about differences as well.
Religion: Our first religion lesson is on the Trinity. We will discuss how there are 3 persons in one God and how St. Patrick used to teach this using a shamrock. Our focus will be on learning the sign of the cross as well as the Glory Be prayer. Please practice these at home!
Lastly, please keep an eye out for a letter that will be coming home tomorrow. This letter will give you a brief explanation of the discipline plan I will be implementing starting Monday. I will explain in further detail on August 24th at our Curriculum Night.
Have a great week!
