I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend! I am sure an extra day of rest was much needed after an exhausting first week back from break!!
Tuesday is the 100th Day of School!!! We will have a day full of fun 100 activities. Please make sure that your child returns their brown bag filled with 100 items of their choosing and three clues to help us guess what it is. I look forward to seeing all the creative things you came up with!
Here is what we will be working on this week:
Reading: We will have our Unit 2 test on Tuesday of this week. The students will also be assessed on their knowledge of our sight words from this unit at the end of the week. Please review the words that we have learned thus far with your child so that they are prepared. As this is a short week we will not begin a new lesson. Rather we will spend some time reviewing skills that we have been working on throughout the year.
Math: We will finish our chapter on campaign sets. The lessons this week are all about finding how many in all. This lesson is an introduction to addition skills. The students will work on some centers to practice the concepts from the chapter and we will have our assessment next week.
Religion: The students will hear stories and learn about how Jesus is God the Son. This can be a hard concept for young children to understand that Jesus is also God. We will end the week with an assessment on this chapter so please keep an eye out for an email with the questions. We will also have Pride Day on Friday.
Lastly, we will spend some time learning about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and why we celebrate his life. The students will engage in various activities to help them understand what Dr. King stood for and believed in. They will complete a writing assignment about what dreams they have as well. Please feel free to continue these discussions at home with your child.
Have a wonderful short week,
Miss Lauren Cordier
