Don't forget that we have a short week! There is no school this Friday and no school next Monday.
The 18th Annual Poetry Contest begins March 15th and runs through March 28th. All students in grades K-8 are eligible. Every classroom will have a winner who will receive a $10 gift certificate toward the Spring book fair.
Please see the attached information for rules and entry forms (at the bottom of the newsletter) and please do not write student names on the poem, only the entry form! If you would like to help judge, please contact Sarah Kyle at firstname.lastname@example.org
Here is what we will be working on this week in our classroom:
Reading: Our lesson this week is about growing up and the students will hear the stories A Tiger Grows Up and Leo the Late Bloomer. Our sight words this week are said, was, then, good, ate, could. We also will be practicing with the sounds /x/ and /j/. We will take our second spelling test on Thursday of this week.
Math: The students will be assessed on number facts on Monday. We will begin our next chapter on length and height. They will practice using nonstandard units of measurement.
Religion: We will continue to work on our Stations of the Cross book this week. The students will learn about stations 9-12.
Have a great week and enjoy your long weekend!
