This week is our final week before spring break and brings us to the end of the third quarter. There is no school on Friday March 8th and we are off all next week for break! Don't forget this Wednesday is also Ash Wednesday and mass will be at 10 am instead of 8:30 if you were planning on attending. Lastly, if you were unable to attend the Olweus Information meeting last week due to the weather there will be a second meeting held this Tuesday, March 5th at 8:15 am in rooms 5 and 6 of the Parish Hall.
Here is what we will be working on in our classroom this week:
Reading - Our theme this week is growing up and the students will hear the stories A Tiger Grows Up and Leo the Late Bloomer. We will be practicing two sounds this week: /j/ and /x/. We also will learn the new words said, was, then, good, ate, could. Our spelling test words will be she, shop, fish, six, box, and Max.
Math - We have wrapped up our chapter on number facts and will spend the week practicing these skills with centers.
Religion - The students will learn about Lent and what it is. We will talk about Ash Wednesday and what the ashes placed on our foreheads stand for. Lastly we will learn a little bit about St. Patrick in anticipation of St. Patrick's Day over break.
Have a great break and safe travels!
