Welcome back everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful Easter and a relaxing spring break! This week we will be having our kindergarten retreat. Thank you to those of you that volunteered to help out, it will be a great day for the kids! They will get a pizza lunch on this day so you do not need to pack your child a lunch unless they will not eat the pizza.
Here is what we will be working on in our classroom this week:
Reading: This week's lesson is about growing food and the students will hear the stories Bread Comes to Life and Pie in the Sky. We will be reviewing our sight words and sounds from this past unit in preparation for next week's unit test. The words for the spelling test will be: dust, wish, land, ask, God and the bonus word is here. The sentence will be "I can ask God for help." Remember to practice proper punctuation and capitalization with your child when writing the sentence.
Religion: With Easter and Jesus' resurrection fresh in our minds, this week the students will learn about how after death there is life. During our retreat they will also be learning about how God gives us all a job, even when we are only five and six! They will participate in various activities in order to learn what their job is within the church.
Math: We are moving on to subtraction this week. The students will learn the minus sign and that it means to take away. We will review the equals sign as well and practice writing subtraction number sentences. They will engage in centers at the end of the week to practice this skill.
We also will be having some fun with worms this week to extend our learning about plants and how they grow!
Thank you and have a great week!
