Hello K1 families! We have a busy and fun week planned before Easter break is here!
Some reminders for this week:
1) This Thursday will be our field trip to the Herberger Theater to see The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Since we will only be gone for a few hours students will still need to wear their full school uniforms on this day. You will not need to send a snack with your child on this day since we cannot have food on the bus or in the theater. With that being said, make sure your child has a good and filling breakfast on Thursday to help hold them over until lunch. We will be eating lunch back at school that day so please send your child with a packed lunch or order a hot lunch for that day like normal.
2) This Friday at 11:30 some students will be leading our school through the living stations of the cross. Please feel free to join us for this special presentation - it is truly a great way to prepare for Easter.
3) Easter break is from April 15-22nd. School will resume on Tuesday April 23rd.
Here is what we will be working on in our classroom this week:
Reading - Students will be assessed on unit 5 on Monday. We will then begin our first lesson of unit 6. The theme will be trying your best and the students will hear the stories Curious George Makes Pancakes and Kitten's First Full Moon. Our new high frequency words will. be do, went, just, little, only down. The sound we will be practicing is /u/. Spelling words for the week will practice making words plural as well as the long e sound spelled as y. The words will be cups, rubs, foxes, dishes, only, many, very, baby.
Math - We will wrap up our addition and subtraction lessons and engage in some fun Easter themed review centers.
Religion - The students will finish learning about Holy Week and Jesus' Death and Resurrection through resurrection eggs.
Have a great week, relaxing break, and blessed Easter!
