I hope you all had a great weekend! Thank you to those who helped out with our retreat last week. It was a wonderful day and the kids learned so much! It was great to see them share the song they learned with the whole school as well!

Dear St. John art enthusiasts,
We would like to invite you to attend this year's Art Walk on Friday, May 4th! We will have two viewing sessions for your enjoyment: 12:00-1:00 p.m. and again from 5:00-6:00 p.m. (before the Spring Concert). All pre-purchased artwork may be picked up after 6:00 p.m. to allow for a full art display for all attendees (see flyer for more details).
All Kindergarten through 5th grade students will have a piece of artwork that has been pre-selected and will be displayed in a beautiful frame during the Art Walk on Friday, May 4th.
Please use the Pre-Order Form if you would like to purchase your child's framed artwork that will be on display during the Art Walk. The price is $25 if you order before May 1st. The price will be $30 after May 1st. So don't delay in submitting your pre-order form! (Monies raised through the sales of this event will benefit the St. John XXIII Art Program.)

Here is what we will be working on this week in our class:
Reading: Monday we will have our Unit 5 Test. Then we will begin our final unit of the year!! This week's lesson is about trying our best and the students will hear the stories Curious George Makes a Pancake and Kitten's First Full Moon. Our sight words for this week are do, went, just, down, little. We also will be working on our final vowel sound - /u/. For grammar the students will be introduced to the difference between singular and plural nouns. Lastly, this week's spelling test will be on the following words:
1) duck 2) twig 3) vest 4) zoo 5) chip B) said
Sentence: I saw a duck at the zoo.
Math: This week we will be reviewing subtraction with some centers. The students will be assessed on subtraction facts this Friday.
Religion: Our new lesson is on faith and trust. The students will hear the stories of Noah's Ark, David and Goliath, and Jesus Calms the Storm.
