I hope you enjoyed the long weekend! A couple reminders of events happening this week:
1) Tuesday May 1st is our school May Crowning ceremony. If you are able to, please join us at 8:15 for this special celebration of Mary. It will begin at 8:15 and your kindergartners will be leading the school in a special song. The kids are welcome to place flowers at our Mary Grotto as well.
2) Friday May 4th is our school concert and art walk. Please make sure your children arrive in our classroom by 5:30 on this day. The performance begins at 6pm. Dress code is 1950s, appropriate, poodle skirts for girls would be ideal but not necessary. Boys can wear dress clothes, or casual jeans with bottom hems rolled up, T-shirt, slicked back hair and so on. Art work will be available for your viewing in the courtyard starting Friday afternoon.
Here is what we will be learning about in our classroom this week:
Reading: Our lesson is about getting help and the kids will hear the stories The Little Engine that Could and You Can Do It, Curious George. Our new sounds are /z/ and /v/ and our sight words are look, very, their, saw, put, out. We also will continue to practice with subject-verb agreement in our sentences.
Math: We will be reviewing measuring this week with some fairy tale stories. The kids will also participate in some fairy tale STEM activities.
Religon: The students will learn about how God cares for us as well as all that he created. They will hear the story of the Good Shepherd to help them understand. We will review what we learned about caring for our world during our Earth Week lessons.
Thank you and have a great week!
