Hello K1 families,
This week we will be hosting our Mother's Day Tea. On Wednesday, all moms who are safe environment compliant are invited to our classroom at 2:00 to share a special afternoon with your kiddo. We look forward to celebrating you all!
Here is what we will be learning in our classroom this week:
Reading - Our theme this week is learning new things. The students will hear the stories Baby Brains and Look at Us! We will learn our last two letter sounds. - /qu/ and /y/ as well as our last six words for the year which are take, off, show, day, too, and our. The spelling words for this week will practice our letter sounds from this lesson: quit, quiz, yam, yes, you, your. The sentence is: Yes your quiz is now!
Math - We will wrap up our chapter on money and practice coin names and values with some centers this week. The students will also practice adding the values of coins to purchase items.
Religion - The students will revisit concepts we have previously learned related to Theology of the Body. We will be talking about nature and our beautiful state of Arizona to review God's creations and how he made each plant, animal, and person for a specific person and how we are each uniquely created and special.
Social Studies - To tie in with our discussions about Arizona in religion the students will hear the story Me on the Map. We will discuss what maps are and how they are used as well as learn about our place in this world starting small within our own school and home and moving though city, state, country, continent, all the way to planet!
Thank you and have a great week!
