I hope you had a great Labor Day and enjoyed the long weekend. I appreciate you all sending in your family photos to share with our class. It was so fun to hear your kids share about each of your families and some of the fun places you have been!
Here is what we will be working on in our classroom this week:
Reading - This week's lesson is about going to school and friends. The students will hear the stories Friends at School and How Do Dinosaurs Go to School? We will finish up reviewing letter names and learn a new sight word for this week - "like."
Math - Our new chapter is about ordering things by size. We also will continue to practice proper formation of numbers 1-10.
Religion - We will begin a two week long lesson on Commandments. We will learn who Moses was and how he received the commandments. The students will also learn about what each commandment is with a focus on the Golden Rule. This week we will also have our first Pride Day. The students will be broken up into Pride "families" and meet a different classroom to learn a faith-based lesson that is student led. This a great opportunity for us to grow as a community and meet kids of all ages in our school.
Social Studies/Science - For social studies this week we will take about Labor Day as well friends and what it means to be a friend. With September upon us we will also will begin to work with apples. This week will use apples to learn about germs to help remind us during the fall season when colds are common to keep our hands clean :)
Have a great week!
