Thank you for all of your generous donations to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey! Our community was able to collect over $1800 for them!!! Wow!!
This Wednesday, first quarter progress reports will go out. You will be able to access this using RenWeb. For those of you who are new to our community, our grading system is as follows:
M for mastering, D for developing, and E for emerging. A letter will be sent home on Monday to further explain what exactly each of those means. Please keep in mind that at this point in time we really don't expect anyone to be mastering all subject areas. We will work to build up to that throughout the whole year. If you have any concerns or questions please email me.
Here is what we will be working on this week:
Reading: The theme for our stories and discussions will be pets. We will hear I Have a Pet! and Please, Puppy, Please. Our new high frequency word is "the" and we will finish up reviewing the names of the letters as we practice U-Z. For grammar we will be learning about nouns for things and animals. Make sure to be reviewing our high frequency words at home! So far we have learned I, like, and the. Also have your child work on starting their name with a capital letter and writing the rest with lower case letters.
Math: We will finish up our chapter on numbers to ten and take our chapter 2 assessment this week. We also will work through a quick chapter on ordering things by size, weight, and length. We will end the week with an assessment on that chapter as well. Please keep practicing the proper way to write numbers with your child.
Religion: This week we will be learning all about the Ten Commandments. We will hear the story of Moses and the students will be introduced to each of the commandments. They will have discussions as to how they can follow each commandment in their own life in order to be a clear image of God.
Thank you and have a great week!!
