Thank you for all the prayers and support during this difficult time in our community. It is times like this that I feel so blessed that we can turn to our faith and to prayer in our classrooms. How lucky our your kids to have the gift of a Catholic education. Father Pete will be incredibly missed and we will continue to pray and think about him every day.
In case you did not see it in the Friday email our schedule has changed for this week. Our dismissal for kindergarten will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday September 21st. Lunch will still be provided on this day. The school will be closed on Friday all day for Father Pete's funeral services. If you would like to attend any of the services the schedule is as follows:
Thursday September 21st: Visitation 3-7 pm at St. Bernadette's; Rosary/Vigil 7 pm at St. Bernadette's
Friday September 22nd: Funeral 10 am at St. Bernadette's; reception to follow in school gym
Monday September 25th: Rite of Committal 10:30 am at National Cemetery; motorcade procession will begin at Hansen Mortuary at 9:45 am.
Here is what we will be working on in the classroom this week:
Reading: This week's stories Pizza at Sally's and Everybody Works are all about jobs. We will learn the word "and" and the letter sound /m/. The students will also be introduced to verbs as action words.
Math: We will begin our next chapter on numbers 0-10. The students will start composing and decomposing numbers to 5. We also will be reviewing and ordering numbers to 10.
Religion: This week we will finish up our lesson on the ten commandments and begin our next lesson on loving others as God loves us. Keep an eye out for an email with questions to practice with your child for an upcoming religion assessment.
Social Studies: With our stories being all about jobs, we will have discussions and complete activities on community helpers.
Again thank you for all that you have done this past week. It is incredibly appreciated.
