This Friday is our school Mother/Son outing at Cracker Jax. If you have not already registered for this fun event, please do so by this Tuesday September 25th.
Here is what we will be working on in our classroom this week:
Reading - Our lesson is on helping and we will hear the stories The Little Red Hen and The Handiest Things in the World. Our Alphafriend this week is Sammy Seal who will help us to remember the /s/ sound. We will not learn a new sight word this week but rather be reviewing the words we have learned so far: I, like, the, and. Next week we will have our first reading test over our first unit.
Math - We will begin a new chapter on counting and numbers 0 to 10. In this chapter we will learn ways to compose and decompose numbers. We will practice with different ways to make 5.
Religion - This week's lesson is on Loving Others as God Loves You. The students will hear scripture stories that teach them this concept.
Science/Social Studies - For science and social studies this week we will finish up learning about apples by celebrating Johnny Appleseed Day on Wednesday. The students will make a Johnny Appleseed craft and watch a movie that teaches about his life. We also will learn about helping others by discussing our rights and our responsibilities as citizens.
Have a great week!
