Happy October K1 parents!
This Thursday (October 4) is our picture retake day. If anyone wants their child to retake their picture please send their original packet of pictures to school with them on Thursday and I will make sure they get a retake done. Thank you!
We also will begin homework this week so please look in your child's folder for information regarding our homework calendar.
This week in K1:
Reading - We have finished our first Unit in reading. This means that this week the students will take their first reading test. This test will assess their knowledge of the sight words, sounds, and phonics/phonemic awareness concepts that we have been practicing the past four weeks. Our new lesson will be about senses. The stories we will read are Listen, Listen and My 5 Senses. Our sight word is "see" and our sound is /a/.
Math - We will continue to work on composing and decomposing numbers and practicing with one more and one less as an introduction to addition.
Religion - In preparation for our first Theology of the Body unit we will be learning all about creation this week. The students will hear the story of creation and learn what God created each day. We will focus on the fact that God created us in his image which is what makes us so special!
Science - To connect with our reading lesson on the senses we will do many different activities to explore each of the five senses. We will do a nature walk as well as a smell test and a sound guessing activity.
Have a great week!
