Happy October! Make sure to check your child's red folder on Monday. We begin homework this month and a packet will be going home with a homework calendar as well as other resources you can use for homework this year. There will be a letter explaining everything as well but please contact me with any further questions regarding homework.
Here is what we will be working on this week:
Reading: We will take our unit 1 reading assessment on Monday. After that we begin unit 2 with the first lesson being all about using our senses. We will hear the stories Listen, Listen and My 5 Senses. Our new sound is /a/ and the Alphafriend we will be using to remember this sound by is Andy Apple. The sight word we will be practicing is "see." The students will also be introduced to sensory words as an introduction to adjectives.
Math: Chapter 5 is all about size and position. The concepts we will cover are big and small, fitting, positional words, and ordering events by before and after. Our assessment on this chapter will be on Friday.
Religion: This week's lesson is all about the church. We will learn about the different items and people that are associated with the church and learn what they are used for. The students will hear the scripture story of how Jesus began the Church. The assessment for this lesson will also be on Friday. The questions to practice are:
1) What do we call God's house on Earth? the Church
2) Why do we go to church? to pray, to worship/praise God
3) Who are the 3 leaders of the church? priests, bishops, Pope
Have a great week!
